JERTIH: A devastating incident occurred on Pulau Perhentian near Jertih, as another victim succumbed to his injuries after being buried alive when a building under construction collapsed at a resort. The unfortunate incident took place on Thursday (Nov 9) and the victim, identified as Bahul Jamil, a 42-year-old Indonesian, tragically lost his life early Sunday morning (Nov 12) at Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital (HUSM) in Kubang Kerian, Kelantan.

Bahul Jamil was receiving treatment at HUSM when he sadly passed away at 2.14 am on Sunday. The cause of his death was attributed to severe injuries sustained across several parts of his body. This incident has now claimed the lives of two individuals, with the first victim, Suparno, aged 40, having been discovered under the debris at 2.15 pm on Friday (Nov 10), a day after the collapse.

According to Besut OCPD Supt Abdul Rozak Muhammad, Bahul Jamil was found trapped beneath the rubble approximately eight hours after the incident occurred at 4.30 am on Thursday. The rescue team managed to locate him at 1.18 pm that same day. The tragic death of Bahul Jamil has further intensified the grief and anguish surrounding this unfortunate event.

The building collapse has left the local community devastated, as they grapple with the loss of lives and the implications it brings. Authorities are now focusing their efforts on investigating the cause of the collapse to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
