Accident – Death – Obituary News : Aligarh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has made a significant breakthrough in the fight against terrorism, as they successfully apprehended four individuals believed to be linked to the Aligarh module of ISIS. The arrested suspects have been identified as Rakib Imam Ansari, a 29-year-old graduate of Aligarh Muslim University, Naved Siddiqui, a 23-year-old pursuing a BSc from the same university, Mohd Noman, a 27-year-old BA (Honours) graduate, and 23-year-old Mohd Nazim, also a graduate from Sambhal.

According to a statement released by the UP ATS, the raid led to the seizure of banned ISIS literature, mobile phones, and pen drives, providing crucial evidence against the accused. The investigation revealed that the individuals were allegedly associated with the banned terror outfit ISIS and were actively working towards the violent overthrow of the elected government, with the intention of establishing a Sharia-based system. The suspects were distributing ISIS-related literature among like-minded individuals, aiming to recruit them into the terrorist organization.

The ATS further disclosed that the arrested individuals were mentally and physically preparing people for “terror jihad” through online platforms. Disturbingly, they had planned a major action within the state and potentially throughout the country. The accused had established connections with each other during meetings organized by the Students of Aligarh Muslim University, a students’ union, where they sought to recruit new members under the guise of legitimate activities.

This recent arrest follows another successful operation conducted by the UP ATS on November 8. In that operation, a suspected terrorist named Wajihuddin was apprehended in Chhattisgarh’s Durg district under the provisions of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA). Wajihuddin, who was pursuing a Ph.D. from AMU, was actively involved with ISIS and residing in the SBI Colony in Durg.

The joint search operation carried out by Supela police and UP ATS in Durg resulted in the arrest of Wajihuddin, who was considered an influential member of the terrorist organization. The investigation revealed that he and his group were engaged in anti-national activities, posing a significant threat to national security.

The successful operations conducted by the ATS highlight the effectiveness of intelligence-driven actions against terrorism. The UP ATS, along with other law enforcement agencies, remains committed to safeguarding the nation from the menace of terrorism.
