EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Edinburg Police Department is currently conducting an investigation into a fatal auto-pedestrian crash that occurred on Saturday evening.

According to a press release from the Edinburg Police, the incident took place at approximately 7:30 p.m. in the 2000 block of E. University. The authorities were alerted about an accident involving a man at the location.

Initial findings from the ongoing investigation indicate that a 78-year-old man, identified as Juan Solis of Edinburg, was walking along the outside lane when he was struck by a black Ford Expedition.

The driver of the vehicle promptly halted and rendered assistance to the victim. Law enforcement officials have confirmed that the driver is fully cooperating with the investigation.

Tragically, Juan Solis was immediately transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
