40-Year-Old Woman Killed After Failed Rape Attempt: Hemal Arrested

The Udaipur police have arrested a man named Hemal for allegedly killing Kali Bai after a failed rape attempt. The incident came to light on 8th November when Kali Bai did not return home from work, and her son went searching for her.

According to reports, Kali Bai left for work from her house in the Ambamata Police Station area of Udaipur. Concerned when she did not return by evening, her son started looking for her. Disturbingly, someone informed him that Kali Bai’s lifeless body was found near the Pentic Hostel behind the Philadelphia Church in Ambamata. Rushing to the scene, Kali Bai’s son discovered her dead body with injury marks on her forehead and immediately informed the police.

Upon receiving the report, the police swiftly arrived at the scene, took possession of the body, and sent it for a post-mortem examination. The FIR filed in the matter, under Sections 302 and 201 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), was against an unknown person. The investigation was underway, and the police were determined to solve the case.

In a recent development, the Udaipur police identified and apprehended the accused, Hemal. The police formed five teams to track down the suspect, and after meticulously reviewing footage from approximately 120 CCTV cameras, they successfully identified Hemal as the person present at the crime scene during the time of the incident. Hemal was subsequently arrested for the murder of Kali Bai.

Superintendent of Police Bhuwan Bhushan Yadav stated that Hemal and Kali Bai were acquainted with each other and maintained regular contact. Kali Bai, who had been living with her son following her husband’s demise, was allegedly approached by Hemal on the day of the incident. However, she refused to accompany him. Hemal pursued her and took advantage of an opportunity to attack her. He attempted to rape Kali Bai but was unsuccessful. In a fit of rage, he struck her head with a blunt object, resulting in her death.

While reports have suggested that Hemal tried to rape Kali Bai’s lifeless body, the police have not confirmed this detail in their official statement. OpIndia attempted to contact SP Yadav for further clarification but was unsuccessful.
