MUMBAI: In a tragic incident, a 28-year-old employee of a bank allegedly jumped to his death from the iconic Bandra-Worli Sea Link on late Friday evening. The deceased has been identified as Akash Nagendra Singh, a resident of Parel, who is survived by his grief-stricken parents. The Worli police have registered an accidental death report (ADR) and are currently investigating the reason behind this drastic act.

According to the police, Singh took a cab from Bandra for Worli. It was around 8.15 pm when he was on the south-bound stretch of the sea link. Suddenly, he asked the taxi driver to stop the car, claiming that his mobile phone had fallen down. The concerned taxi driver followed his instructions and stopped the vehicle. However, within seconds, the shocked driver witnessed Singh jumping over the railings and plunging into the sea. Realizing the gravity of the situation, the taxi driver immediately alerted the toll naka officials and the police. The police, along with local fishermen, launched a frantic search operation to rescue Singh. After hours of relentless efforts, they were able to locate his lifeless body around 12.15 am.

Upon discovery, the police rushed Singh to Bhabha Hospital in Bandra, where he was declared dead. The authorities were able to identify him through his wallet and promptly informed his grief-stricken relatives about the shocking incident. According to his family, Singh had been leading a seemingly content and fulfilled life until recently when he went through a painful breakup with his girlfriend. This heartbreak seemed to have deeply affected him and might have led to this tragic decision.
