Cuban Truck Driver Arrested in Texas for Fatal Traffic Accident

Authorities in Texas, United States, have apprehended a truck driver of Cuban origin who is accused of causing a deadly traffic accident in the city of Valley Mills, located in McLennan County.

The suspect has been identified as 44-year-old Maikel Alpizar Espinosa. He is being held responsible for an incident that occurred on September 22 on Highway 6 in Valley Mills.

The US Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, which specializes in tracking down fugitives, successfully arrested the Cuban trucker. It is believed that Espinosa attempted to flee the scene on the day of the accident.

Following his arrest, the Valley Mills Police Department, in collaboration with the US Marshals, took Espinosa into custody. He was then transferred to Fort Bend County Jail, where a bail of half a million dollars was set.

Espinosa will remain detained at Fort Bend County Jail until he can be transferred to McLennan County to face charges of involuntary manslaughter.

Texas authorities are currently conducting an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident and gather evidence for the case. The identity of the deceased individual has not been released by the Valley Mills police.

In Texas, the penalties for involuntary manslaughter can range from two to 20 years in prison, depending on various factors unique to each case. Additionally, the charge carries a fine of up to $10,000.

Fugitive Cuban Suspect Wanted for Murder in Houston

Espinosa, who claims to be originally from Ciego de Ávila based on his social media profiles, is not the only Cuban individual wanted by the police in Houston recently. Authorities are also searching for Roger Betancourt Castillo, a 40-year-old man accused of murdering his ex-wife.

The alleged murder took place on Sunday, October 8, at approximately 5:00 pm, in apartment 3004 of the Wesley Gardens apartment complex, where the victim resided.

According to sources close to the deceased, Betancourt visited his ex-wife’s apartment during the early hours of the morning. Concerned, she contacted the police; however, by the time the officers arrived, Betancourt had already left the scene.
