Sixteen-Year-Old Angel Success Watson Jailed for Allegedly Killing Man Ansu Kromah

MONROVIA – A teenage girl, identified as Angel Success Watson, has been imprisoned at the Monrovia Central Prison after being charged with the murder of Ansu Kromah.

On Wednesday, November 8, 2023, Angel Success Watson, a sixteen-year-old teenager, was incarcerated at the Monrovia City Court by Magisterial Ben Barco.

Watson is facing charges of murder under Chapter 14, Section 14.1 of the revised penal code of the Republic of Liberia. The allegations state that she purposefully, knowingly, and intentionally caused the death of Ansu Kromah, also known as “Melting Kate,” who fell off the second floor of the old Euro Bank Building on June 29, 2023.

According to court records, the police conducted a thorough investigation into the alleged homicide case and confirmed that Ansu Kromah visited the Euro Bank Building on Broad and Warren Streets on the morning of July 29, 2023.

Several witnesses, including Francis Kollie, a resident of the building and the son of Ma Fatu Kollic, who operates a business on the ground floor, reported seeing the victim at the premises around 2:30 AM on July 29, 2023.

Upon arrival at the Euro Bank Building, Ansu Kromah encountered an argument between Officer Mike B. Thompson of the Monrovia City Police and another individual who had taken the officer’s phone from a charging station near Ma Fatu Kollie’s business area and replaced it with his own phone.

Thanks to the intervention of Ma Fatu Kollie, the dispute was resolved. However, while still on the ground floor of the building, Ansu Kromah came across Angel Success Watson. He asked Francis Kollie to serve Watson a drink of her choice, which he would pay for.

Watson, who was involved in a romantic relationship with Francis Kollie, was intimately embraced by Ansu Kromah, leading to a verbal altercation between Kromah and Officer Mike B. Thompson. The argument lasted for several minutes until other individuals intervened.

After the intervention, Thompson went to his accommodation on the ground floor, while Ansu Kromah was seen going upstairs accompanied by Angel Success Watson.

Further investigation revealed that Mongoe G. Jallah, also known as Big Princess, and her roommates, Princess Banda and Princess Yoko, along with Princess Yoko’s boyfriend, William Roberts, were at the Happy Club Entertainment Center on Warren Street on the night of July 29, 2023.

William Roberts decided to go to the Ministry of Transport to entertain themselves, and Princess Banda and Mongoe G. Jallah followed him shortly after. They had no knowledge of Ansu Kromah’s presence at the building during that time as they were all asleep.

At around 5:30 AM, Ma Fatu informed Mongoe G. Jallah about the victim’s condition. Big Princess immediately recognized him as her “God Pa” and pleaded with Ma Fatu and others to help transport him to the hospital.

Further investigation revealed that on the morning after the incident, Angel Success Watson had an interaction with Emmanuel Mends-Cole, a resident on the third floor of the building. Watson requested access to his room to engage in a short-term commercial sexual encounter with Ansu Kromah.

Emmanuel Mends-Cole agreed to the arrangement after negotiating a payment of L$100.00 from Watson.

Additionally, on July 29, 2023, while Ansu Kromah was receiving medical attention at the John F. Kennedy Medical Center, he was visited by Miss Marthaline Miller. In the presence of a duty nurse, Kromah disclosed that he was attacked by Angel Success Watson and three other men on the night of the incident, leading to his death.
