Quakertown Man Arrested for the Ninth Time on Retail Theft Charges

Allegedly Stole Over $300 Worth of Energy Drinks from Giant Food Store in Hatfield

A 30-year-old man from Quakertown, Chase Vorhauer, has been apprehended for the ninth time on retail theft charges after he allegedly stole more than $300 worth of energy drinks from the Giant Food Store in Hatfield. The incident occurred on September 10, and Hatfield Police were called to the scene on October 12 to investigate the theft, according to a report.

The authorities stated that Vorhauer entered the Giant Food Store on Cowpath Road at 6:12 p.m. He was seen putting numerous packs of Monster Energy and Red Bull into a shopping cart before leaving the store without making any payment. Surveillance footage from the store captured the entire incident, and store security identified Vorhauer as the suspect due to his involvement in previous thefts at various Giant locations.

The criminal complaint revealed that Vorhauer was observed entering a gray sedan through the rear driver’s side door, which then left the premises at 6:21 p.m. The police have filed charges against Vorhauer on November 2, and he was arraigned on the same day by Magisterial District Judge Jodi Griffis. Bail was set at $500 cash, and Vorhauer remains in custody at the county jail.

The stolen items included four four-packs of Monster Energy, three 12-packs of Monster Energy, five 12-packs of Red Bull, and 10 four-packs of Red Bull, with a total value of $345.38, according to the police. Vorhauer had also been arrested in 2021 for stealing from the same store and was subsequently found guilty of felony conspiracy to commit retail theft in that case.

This latest arrest marks the ninth time Vorhauer has faced retail theft charges. In a previous incident in September, he was arrested for the eighth time following an alleged retail theft from Weis Markets in Upper Gwynedd Township. The Hatfield Township charges indicate that the offense occurred between the time charges were filed in Upper Gwynedd on September 6 and his arrest on September 15. Bail was set at $1,000 unsecured in that case, but Vorhauer has remained in custody due to a detainer being filed.

Court records also show that Vorhauer has an open felony retail theft case from September 23 in Upper Moreland Township, for which he is awaiting formal arraignment at county court.

Vorhauer’s preliminary hearing for the most recent charges is scheduled for November 29 at 1 p.m. before Magisterial District Judge Ed Levine. It is important to note that all suspects and defendants are considered innocent until proven guilty. This article was compiled using public court records.
