Government School Teacher Fatally Shot Near Gaya Junction Railway Station in Bihar

A shocking incident occurred on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday when a government school teacher was shot dead near the Gaya Junction railway station in Bihar’s Patna. The victim, identified as Narendra Kumar, was a 44-year-old teacher at a government high school in Aurangabad. He resided in Gautam Buddha Colony, Gaya, and would commute to the school by train.

On that fateful Thursday, as Kumar reached the railway booking counter on Delha side, an unidentified assailant shot him and quickly fled the spot. The gunshot inflicted fatal injuries on the teacher, leaving him in critical condition. Passersby immediately alerted the railway police (GRP), who swiftly rushed Kumar to the Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College and Hospital. However, despite their efforts, the teacher was declared dead upon arrival.

SK Dwivedi, the Station House Officer (SHO) of GRP, assured that a case would be registered once the victim’s family files a formal complaint. In an attempt to identify the miscreants involved in this heinous crime, the authorities are currently examining the CCTV footage from the area.

Prior Incidents in Bihar Raise Concerns

This tragic event follows a similar incident that took place last month in Bihar’s Sitamarhi district. A government college professor named Ravi Pathak, who served as the head of the Physics department, was shot inside his office on the college campus.

The incident unfolded at 12 noon within the premises of Radha Krishna Goenka College. Pathak sustained a gunshot wound to his chin and was immediately rushed to a private hospital for emergency treatment. Unfortunately, his condition remains critical. Authorities are working tirelessly to identify and apprehend the perpetrator responsible for the attack.

Sadar Range’s Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Ram Krishna, expressed his determination to bring the culprit to justice. He stated, “We are making every possible effort to identify and arrest the accused involved in this heinous act.”

These incidents have raised concerns about the safety and security of educational institutions and their staff in Bihar. The local authorities are expected to take appropriate measures to ensure the protection and well-being of teachers and students alike.
