Drunk Step-Father Beats 2-Year-Old to Death in Sambalpur, Uttar Pradesh: Arrest Made

Police authorities have apprehended a man in Uttar Pradesh’s Sambalpur district after an alarming incident that saw a 2-year-old child brutally beaten to death and his wife and another daughter seriously injured. The accused, identified as Ashraf, was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident, as confirmed by the police. The shocking incident transpired in an area falling under the jurisdiction of Hayat Nagar police station.

Food dispute triggers the tragic incident

According to the police, the dispute between the couple over food escalated around 8:30 pm on November 9. In a fit of rage, Ashraf mercilessly assaulted his wife and two daughters. Regrettably, one of the children, merely 2 years old, succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. Reports indicate that the man’s brutality was so severe that he repeatedly slammed the child onto the ground. The police have ascertained that the two victims were indeed the man’s step-daughters.

While one child tragically lost her life, another 3-year-old girl and her mother are currently fighting for their survival at the district hospital. The police have sent the deceased child’s body for post-mortem examination, with the findings eagerly anticipated.

Newly married couple involved

According to available information, the couple had entered into matrimony a mere six months ago. The injured mother, identified as Saista, had married Ashraf following the imprisonment of her first husband. Saista brought both her daughters to Ashraf’s home after their wedding. Recounting the horrific incident, Saista informed the police that on the fateful night, Ashraf returned home and sat down for dinner. Shortly after, an argument erupted between them, resulting in him physically assaulting her. Subsequently, he took both the children into a room and subjected them to severe beatings. The commotion attracted the attention of neighbors, who promptly intervened and rushed the injured trio to the hospital. Unfortunately, the youngest child could not survive the treatment and passed away.

Arrest and legal action

Sambhal SP Kuldeep Singh Gunwat confirmed the arrest of the accused father and revealed that the police are contemplating filing a case against Saista’s family members. This legal action pertains to the offense of marrying a woman to another man without obtaining a divorce from her previous husband.

In her statement, Saista expressed that she had divorced her first husband due to domestic violence. However, she never could have fathomed that her second husband would turn out to be so cruel as to kill her child. Overwhelmed with grief, the devastated mother mourned her unfortunate fate, having unknowingly remarried a man capable of such heinous acts.
