Accident – Death – Obituary News : Man Found Beaten to Death in Coimbatore Residence: Brother-in-Law Suspected

COIMBATORE: A gruesome murder took place in Coimbatore on Thursday night as a 40-year-old man, identified as P Nagarajan, was found dead in his residence in Vellalore. The police suspect that Nagarajan was beaten to death by his brother-in-law.

Nagarajan, a laborer by profession, was known to have a severe addiction to alcohol. On Thursday afternoon, after consuming liquor, he was found lying on a roadside in Vellalore. His wife Rathidevi, 38, and his elder son Pradeev, 21, were informed about his condition and immediately took him back home.

However, Rathidevi and Pradeev were called in by the police for an inquiry at the Sulur police station that evening. Leaving Nagarajan alone at home, they complied with the police’s request. They returned home at around 11:30 pm to a horrifying discovery – Nagarajan was dead, having sustained severe head injuries.

Panicking, Rathidevi and Pradeev immediately alerted the Podanur police, who arrived at the scene and sent Nagarajan’s body to the ESI Medical College Hospital for postmortem examination.

Initial investigations revealed that Rathidevi’s elder brother, Sakthivel alias Arivazhagan, was missing. Arivazhagan held a grudge against Nagarajan, as he believed that Nagarajan was responsible for their mother’s suicide a few years ago. There had been ongoing animosity between the two.

Locals had informed Arivazhagan about Nagarajan’s condition earlier that day, and he expressed his dissatisfaction with his sister’s unhappy life due to Nagarajan’s alcoholism.

Based on the evidence, the police suspect that Arivazhagan visited Nagarajan’s residence and fatally attacked him with a log before fleeing the scene. As a result, a murder case has been registered, and three special teams have been formed to apprehend Arivazhagan.

The investigation is ongoing, and the police are determined to bring the perpetrator to justice.
