Accident – Death – Obituary News : Woman Gives Birth on Mumbai Street, Mother and Newborn Rushed to Hospital

Mumbai, India – In a shocking incident, a 30-year-old woman gave birth on a street in Mumbai’s Kurla area. The local police were alerted and immediately rushed the mother and her newborn to a nearby civic hospital for medical attention.

The incident took place near the Kamani Junction, and the details were shared by an officer from Mumbai’s VB Nagar police station. According to the officer, they received information on Thursday afternoon about a woman going into labor on the street. Without wasting any time, the police team reached the spot and ensured that the woman and her infant were admitted to a hospital owned and operated by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

Identified as Suvarna Mirgal, the woman gave birth on the street and lost consciousness shortly after delivering the baby. It was a critical situation, but the timely intervention of the police team and the medical staff at the hospital saved both the mother and the child.

“The woman was in a critical condition when we found her. We immediately took her to the hospital, where she and her newborn received prompt medical treatment. Thankfully, both are now stable and doing well,” said the officer.

Nirbhaya Pathak, the leader of a special squad in the Mumbai Police, played a crucial role in the successful rescue operation. The squad, composed of trained women police personnel, focuses on preventing crimes against women and conducting regular patrolling. Their responsibilities include tackling issues such as sexual harassment, stalking, rape, and acid attacks.

The formation of this squad in 2021 came after a rape incident was reported in Saki Naka, Andheri (East). Since then, they have been actively working towards creating a safer environment for women in the city.
