(Council Bluffs, Iowa) – Council Bluffs Police Detectives have successfully identified a suspect in the recent assault of a woman who was jogging on the River’s Edge Park Service Road. The incident, which occurred on Wednesday morning, south of the I-480 bridge underpass, has prompted authorities to issue an arrest warrant for 25-year-old Dominic M. Henton, a resident of Papillion, Nebraska. Henton is wanted on a charge of Assault with the Intent to commit sexual abuse.

Henton, described as a transient, is believed to frequent both the Iowa and Nebraska sides of the Riverfront area. Standing at 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing approximately 140 pounds, he has brown hair and green eyes. The Council Bluffs Police Department is appealing to the public for assistance in locating Henton. However, it is strongly advised not to approach him directly but instead contact 911 if his whereabouts are known.

The Council Bluffs Police Detectives utilized various investigative techniques, including surveillance video analysis, to successfully identify Henton as the primary suspect. The footage obtained showed Henton following Senator Martha McSally eastbound over the Bob Kerry Pedestrian Bridge and then southbound onto the trail. In the surveillance photos, Senator McSally can be seen walking ahead of Henton. One of the images captured Henton in the vicinity prior to the assault, while the fourth photo reveals him in the area after the assault occurred.

The assault took place on Wednesday, November 8th, prompting a swift response from Council Bluffs police officers. At approximately 10:53 a.m., officers were dispatched to Tom Hanafan River’s Edge Park following a report of the assault. The investigation revealed that an unidentified male had attacked the victim, Martha McSally, while she was engaged in her routine jog along the River’s Edge Service Road, situated south of the I-480 bridge underpass.
