A warrant for Alexander’s arrest was issued on Wednesday, with a $10,000 bond set. However, he was not in custody at the time of writing.

The probable cause statement reveals that the witness walked into the Jefferson City Police Department lobby on Thursday, November 2nd, and claimed that Alexander had assaulted the victim on June 16th in front of the Missouri River Regional Library on Adams Street. Additionally, the witness reported that Alexander had expressed concerns about being responsible for the victim’s death. On the same day, the victim was admitted to the hospital, according to the statement.

According to the statement, the witness had been withholding this information and felt the need to come forward.

The probable cause statement did not disclose the names of any witnesses or the victim involved.

At approximately 1:31 a.m. on June 16th, first responders were called to the library after finding the victim slumped over and bleeding from the head. The statement explains that the police were unable to confirm if an assault had taken place.

Following the incident, the victim was initially taken to Capital Region Medical Center before being transferred to University Hospital, where he passed away on October 29th. The statement further reveals that the victim suffered a stroke three weeks after the alleged assault, which significantly deteriorated his health. On October 13th, he was admitted to the intensive care unit.

In response to the initial report, the police reached out to multiple witnesses. One witness claimed that Alexander confessed to “bashing the victim’s head on the ground in front of the library.” Two other witnesses stated that they saw Alexander attacking the victim while he was sleeping on a park bench. One witness even witnessed the assault and observed the victim bleeding from his nose and eyes afterward, according to the statement.

Another witness, described as a pastor, informed the police that he noticed injuries on Alexander’s hands during a funeral on June 16th. The probable cause statement adds that Alexander himself admitted to assaulting the victim at the library.

Court documents reveal that an autopsy was ordered to determine the cause of death. Medical records suggest that the victim had facial injuries and bleeding around the brain. The statement also mentions that the victim’s brain is undergoing examination to ascertain if the hemorrhages contributed to his demise.
