One person dead and others injured in road accident on Bogibeel Bridge, Dibrugarh

Accident – Death – Obituary News : Dibrugarh: Tragedy struck on Wednesday morning as a fatal road accident occurred on the Bogibeel Bridge in Dibrugarh, resulting in the loss of one life and multiple injuries. The incident, which took place at 9 am, involved a collision between three dumper trucks and a passenger vehicle.

According to witnesses, the sequence of events unfolded when a dumper truck loaded with chipped stones attempted to overtake another truck. Both vehicles were traveling from Dhemaji towards Dibrugarh. However, the overtaking truck collided side-on with the other truck and then crashed into a third truck coming from the opposite direction from the Dibrugarh side.

Simultaneously, a passenger vehicle carrying 12 passengers found itself behind the dumper truck from Dibrugarh and failed to stop in time, resulting in a collision. The impact of the crash was severe, causing significant damage to all the vehicles involved.

Tragically, one person identified as Tarun Kuli, aged 52, lost his life in the accident. He was traveling in the passenger vehicle and died on the spot. The other passengers also suffered injuries, and two of the dumper truck drivers were also injured.

Fortunately, army personnel happened to be passing through the bridge at that time and immediately launched a rescue operation. With the help of cranes, they carefully extricated the injured from the mangled vehicles.

Road accidents continue to be a cause for concern in India. In a recent incident in Uttar Pradesh, a four-year-old girl lost her life after being hit by a speeding dumper filled with mud. The driver was apprehended by local residents and handed over to the police. A case of rash and negligent driving has been filed against him.

Additionally, new crash tests by the IIHS revealed that large pickup trucks, including the 2023 Stellantis Ram 1500, 2023 Ford F-150, 2023 General Motors Chevrolet Silverado 1500, and 2023 Toyota Tundra, performed poorly in protecting back seat passengers. The risk of fatal injury was found to be higher for belted occupants in the second row of these newer pickup trucks compared to the front seats.

In yet another incident, five people were injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a private taxi on the Mumbai-Agra highway in the Kasara ghat section. The injured individuals were immediately taken to the Igatpuri rural hospital, with two of them in a serious condition. The police are investigating the incident and will register a case.
