Man Arrested for Allegedly Molesting 5-Year-Old Girl in Abia State

Local Resident Apprehended and Beaten by Angry Mob

In a shocking incident in Ibere, Abia State, a 35-year-old man, known as “Yellow,” has been apprehended by local residents for allegedly molesting a 5-year-old girl inside a room. The suspect was brutally beaten by an angry mob who caught him in the act.

The accused, “Yellow,” confessed to having sexual contact with the innocent child and stated that he lured her with groundnuts. In a plea for forgiveness, he claimed that he was misled by the “Devil” to commit this heinous act, citing the chilling weather from the rain as a factor that heightened his desires.

According to the suspect’s account, he was sitting with some friends, enjoying groundnuts when he entered the building to retrieve something. Inside, he encountered the young girl and offered her some groundnut seeds. As a result, she followed him into the room where the assault took place. The suspect even claimed that he attempted to be gentle with the child during this despicable act.

However, a source from Ibere reported that the assaulted child had been immediately rushed to the hospital by her family for medical attention. The local authorities were alerted, and the accused rapist, “Yellow,” was handed over to the local security personnel for subsequent transfer to the police station. The police are expected to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.

Despite efforts to reach the Abia State Police Command for comments on the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Maureen Chinaka, did not respond to inquiries at the time of this report.

This disturbing incident comes just four months after another case of child molestation in the state. In that instance, a 37-year-old man named Chiemela Ekeke was sentenced to life imprisonment in Umuahia for molesting a 4-year-old girl. These incidents highlight the urgent need for stronger measures to protect young children from such horrifying acts.
