A 17-year-old male was apprehended on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, after attempting to smuggle drugs inside roasted pork to an inmate at the Cebu City Jail. The teenager, identified only as Mike, was carrying a lunch box containing rice and roasted pork, which he intended to deliver to a certain Gerald incarcerated in the jail. However, during a routine search, Jail Officer 1 (JO1) Iris Basiliote discovered two plastic sachets allegedly filled with shabu hidden inside the meat.

The discovery of the illegal drugs within the roasted pork was made when JO1 Basiliote cut apart the meat, revealing the concealed sachets. The incident was promptly reported in the prison facility’s spot report.

Following the discovery, the jail guards immediately turned over the minor suspect to the Women and Children’s Protection Desk (WCPD) of the Guadalupe Police Station. The WCPD will handle the proper disposition of the case, ensuring that appropriate legal actions are taken.
