Suspect Driver Involved in High-Speed Pursuit Escapes After Crash, Passenger Apprehended

Accident – Death – Obituary News : PASO ROBLES — In a late-night incident on November 7, a King City California Highway Patrol (CHP) unit found themselves in a high-speed pursuit after pulling over a speeding vehicle on US 101 in Monterey County. The vehicle in question was a black 2007 Infiniti G35, and as the CHP officer approached the stopped vehicle, the driver suddenly accelerated and fled the scene, heading southbound on US 101.

Despite the officer’s attempts to pursue the fleeing vehicle, they eventually lost sight of it. However, the chase didn’t end there. A short while later, a Templeton CHP unit spotted the same suspect vehicle traveling southbound on US 101 at 17th Street in Paso Robles. They immediately initiated a pursuit with speeds exceeding 100 mph.

The pursuit continued as the suspect driver exited southbound US 101 at SR 46 West, only to re-enter in the northbound direction at SR 46 West, evading law enforcement as they headed north on US 101. The high-speed chase finally came to a halt when the driver took the Camp Roberts off-ramp and went the wrong way until reaching the Bradley Rest Area.

In a desperate attempt to escape, the suspect driver tried to exit the Rest Area parking lot at high speed but lost control of the vehicle, resulting in a collision with a hillside west of the on-ramp. After coming to a stop, both the driver and a passenger, identified as Khari Young, fled the scene on foot. The officers were able to apprehend Young, but the driver managed to escape in a westerly direction onto Camp Roberts property.

Despite a thorough search, involving the deployment of a K-9 unit and handler, law enforcement officers were unable to locate the suspect driver. As a result, authorities are now seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating the driver.

Khari Young, the apprehended passenger, is described as a black male adult, standing at 5’9″ and weighing 210 pounds. He is listed as being from Oakland and is 27 years old. The identity of the driver’s passenger has not been released, but they are listed as being from Stockton.
