Bengaluru, November 8: In a shocking incident near Hoskote, Bengaluru, a police constable named Kishore D, 32, has been accused of strangling his 24-year-old wife, Prathiba, to death out of jealousy. The tragic event unfolded when Kishore, who is posted at the Chamarajanagar East police station in Ramasamudra, Chamarajanagar, traveled approximately 230 km from Chamarajanagar town to his wife’s parental house near Hoskote.

According to reports from The Times of India, Kishore had become suspicious of his wife’s character and had made around 150 distressing calls to her, all of which went unanswered. Prathiba, who had recently given birth to a baby boy at her parental home in Kalathur village, near Hoskote, had a heated argument with her husband the previous evening, November 5. Fearing for her safety, Prathiba’s mother advised her not to answer Kishore’s repeated calls.

On Monday morning, November 6, Kishore arrived at his in-laws’ house and consumed insecticide before locking himself and Prathiba in a room. In a fit of rage, he strangled her to death using a dupatta. Prathiba’s mother, Venkatalakshmamma, who was present during the horrific incident, tried to intervene but was met with a closed door. After persistent knocking, Kishore eventually opened the door 15 minutes later and chillingly confessed, “I killed her, I killed her,” before fleeing the scene.

Prathiba, a computer science graduate with a Bachelor’s degree, had married Kishore on November 13, 2022. Adding another layer of complexity to this distressing tale, Prathiba’s father, Subramani, has accused Kishore’s mother of harassing his daughter over dowry. This allegation further complicates the investigation into the murder.

Local authorities have registered a case of murder against Kishore, who is currently in critical condition at a hospital. While the investigation is ongoing, the shocking nature of this crime has left the community in disbelief and mourning the loss of a young life.
