Accident – Death – Obituary News : Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have apprehended a pastor from the Cherubim and Seraphim Church for his involvement in the abduction of a 21-year-old woman and for allegedly making fake prophecies. The suspect, known as Pastor Sunday, reportedly held the victim, Aliu Blessing, captive for a period of seven months, during which he subjected her to multiple instances of non-consensual sexual intercourse.

According to reports, the pastor coerced Blessing into complying with his demands by prophesying that she would meet her demise on her wedding day if she refused to engage in sexual activities with him. Furthermore, he claimed that any man who attempted to have intimate relations with Blessing, aside from himself, would also suffer a similar fate.

The incident came to light when Blessing returned home on November 5, 2023, after being unreachable for over seven months. Her uncle, Aliu Yusuf, alerted the police about the abduction, leading to the arrest of Pastor Sunday. The victim was subsequently taken to the hospital for a medical examination due to the psychological trauma she had endured.

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the arrest and stated that the pastor had confessed to the crimes during interrogation. He assured the public that the suspect would be charged in court once the investigation was concluded. Odutola also mentioned that Blessing’s mental well-being would be addressed through medical intervention.

This shocking incident adds to a series of recent reports involving pastors engaged in criminal activities. Just last month, Pastor Taiwo Odebiyi, also from the Cherubim and Seraphim Church, was arrested for setting a young woman ablaze during a special prayer session. Additionally, Pastor Segun Otaru, along with two others, was apprehended for allegedly killing a woman named Mercy Moses for ritual purposes.

These incidents have raised concerns about the misuse of power and authority within religious institutions. It is crucial for law enforcement agencies and the justice system to thoroughly investigate such cases and ensure that those responsible face appropriate legal consequences.
