Accident – Death – Obituary News : A woman has been hospitalized following a terrifying hit-and-run incident at a motel in Belfast, Maine. Witnesses reported that the victim was pinned against the building as a result of the crash, prompting immediate concern from onlookers. The suspect, later identified as 56-year-old Ronald Grover of Waldoboro, now faces assault charges following his arrest on Monday.

The incident took place on October 30 at approximately 11 p.m. when the Belfast Police Department received a call about a hit-and-run crash at the Admiral’s Ocean Inn on Searsport Ave. Coincidentally, officers were already at the nearby Gull Motel, responding to an assault investigation. It was during this time that police discovered a woman who had allegedly been struck by a gray Jeep Cherokee and forcibly pinned against the building. Shockingly, the driver, Grover, fled the scene, leaving the injured woman in urgent need of medical attention. She was immediately transported to Waldo County Hospital for treatment, while the motel’s exterior wall suffered significant damage in the collision.

Following a thorough investigation, law enforcement officers, including Belfast officers and Waldo County Sheriff’s Office deputies, located Grover in Stockton Springs on Monday at around 5 p.m. He was subsequently arrested on felony arrest warrants for aggravated assault with a vehicle. Grover is currently being held on cash bail at the Waldo County Jail, awaiting his arraignment in Waldo County Superior Court, scheduled for December 29.

Belfast Police Chief Robert Cormier has stated that the hit-and-run incident seems to be connected to the assault investigation at the Gull Motel. However, the motive behind the assault with a vehicle remains unclear, and there is no indication that Grover and the victim had any prior relationship. The case is still under investigation, and the Belfast Police Department has urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward and contact them at 207-338-2040.

As the investigation continues, it is hoped that further details will emerge to shed light on this disturbing incident. In the meantime, the community is left grappling with the shock and concern caused by this reckless act of violence..
