Tragic Discovery: Woman’s Lifeless Body Found in Shallow Canal near Piggery Farm

A distressing incident unfolded in the Mabolufon area of Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, as the lifeless body of a 34-year-old woman, Bidemi Damilola, was discovered in a shallow canal located just a few steps away from a piggery farm. The shocking discovery left the community in a state of shock and mourning.

The Ogun State Police Command confirmed that the deceased had been reported missing before her tragic fate was revealed on Friday. The grieving husband, Adekunle Fetiga, had initiated a search for his wife and promptly approached the Igbeba Police Division to report her disappearance.

Fetiga expressed growing concern when his wife failed to return home after leaving on Thursday, prompting the family to take immediate action. The circumstances surrounding Bidemi Damilola’s death remain unclear, but the police discovered a plastic bag containing an unidentified liquid substance at the scene, adding a layer of mystery to the case.

Furthermore, two pairs of slippers suspected to belong to the deceased were found near the shallow canal, intensifying the investigation into her untimely demise. Although no visible signs of violence were observed on her body, the police have initiated an inquiry to shed light on the events surrounding her disappearance and subsequent death.

Speaking exclusively to PUNCH Metro on Sunday, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, disclosed that a preliminary investigation has commenced. Once this initial inquiry is completed, the case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further examination.

As the investigation continues, authorities have taken the deceased’s body to the State Hospital Mortuary in Ijebu-Ode for an autopsy. This crucial step aims to provide valuable insights into the cause of Bidemi Damilola’s tragic demise, offering some measure of closure to her grieving family.
