The incident began when a state trooper spotted a 2018 Dodge Durango driving with expired registration on US 31 in Miami County around 9:30 p.m. The trooper attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled. The driver, identified as 19-year-old Marion McGrew of Indianapolis, led authorities on a dangerous chase through Miami, Fulton, and Marshall counties, reaching speeds of up to 115 miles per hour, according to Indiana State Police.

As the pursuit entered Marshall County, McGrew continued driving northbound on US 31 towards Sweetgym Road. Deputies had deployed tire deflation devices in an attempt to stop the vehicle, but the driver managed to avoid them by temporarily driving off the road. The vehicle continued at a high rate of speed, turning westbound onto 9A Road and then onto King Road, where it ran through a red light at the intersection of US 30.

At this point, Indiana State Police terminated their pursuit, but deputies with the Fulton and Marshall County Sheriff’s Departments took over. The chase came to an end in Marshall County when McGrew lost control of the Dodge Durango and crashed. Both McGrew and his passenger, identified as 19-year-old Pierre Robinson, were taken into custody without further incident.

Fortunately, neither suspect sustained any injuries during the crash. However, authorities discovered various firearms and what they believe to be marijuana during a search of the vehicle. McGrew was also found to be driving without a license, and it was revealed that the Dodge Durango had been reported as stolen from Chicago.

McGrew has been charged with resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, theft of a vehicle, unlawful carrying of a handgun, aggressive driving, driving without a license, and reckless driving. Robinson, on the other hand, has been charged with theft of a vehicle, unlawful carrying of a firearm, and possession of marijuana.

The Indiana State Police, along with the Fulton and Marshall County Sheriff’s Departments, are continuing their investigation into the incident.
