Tragic Discovery: Young Couple Found Dead in Their Rented Apartment in India

Heartbreaking Incident Unfolds in Lohegaon

A shocking incident unfolded in the quiet neighborhood of Lohegaon, India, when the lifeless bodies of a young couple in their early 20s were discovered on Monday morning, Nov. 6. The deceased have been identified as Kiran Mahadev Bobade (22) and his wife, Aarti (20).

Authorities from the Vimantal police station revealed that upon arrival at the scene, they found Kiran hanging from the ceiling fan, with his hands tightly bound. Tragically, Aarti was found lying motionless on the bed. The couple resided in a modest one-bedroom-hall-kitchen flat on the ground floor of a housing society in Lohegaon.

Victims’ Professional Backgrounds

Kiran Mahadev Bobade worked on a contract basis with the Indian Post, while his wife, Aarti, was employed at a private bank. Their sudden and mysterious demise has left their friends, colleagues, and family members devastated.

Senior Inspector Anand Khobare of the Airport police expressed his deep concern over the incident, stating, “The circumstances surrounding the couple’s death are both perplexing and tragic. Bobade was found hanging from the ceiling fan, while Arati was found lying motionless on the bed in their rented flat.”

Khobare further added, “The discovery was made after residents of the housing society detected a foul smell emanating from the couple’s flat. The owner of the flat, who resides within the same building, was notified immediately. However, his attempts to enter the premises were futile as the door was locked from the inside. Concerned for their well-being, he contacted the police control room, leading to the heartbreaking discovery.”

Unveiling the Mystery

Upon gaining access to the apartment, authorities were met with a distressing sight. The partially decomposed bodies of Kiran and Aarti were recovered, suggesting that they had passed away approximately two to three days prior. The flat owner disclosed that the couple had been renting the property for the past five months.

As the investigation unfolds, the bodies have been sent to the Sassoon General Hospital for post-mortem examinations. The cause of death and the underlying reasons behind this tragic incident remain unknown. In light of the circumstances, authorities have initiated the process of registering an accidental death (AD) case.
