The couple has been identified as 20-year-old Soumini Das, hailing from West Bengal, and 29-year-old Abhil Abraham, originally from Kerala. Soumini was pursuing her nursing education at a private college in Bengaluru, while Abhil operated a nursing service agency in the city.

According to sources, Soumini and Abhil crossed paths a few months ago, eventually falling in love. Over time, they made the decision to live together, despite Soumini being already married to a man in West Bengal. This revelation and the ensuing inability to maintain her marriage may have contributed to escalating disputes.

Investigators suspect that opposition from Soumini’s husband could have played a significant role in the couple’s tragic decision to set themselves ablaze. However, the exact cause is yet to be conclusively determined.

Reports indicate that on the day of the incident, neighbors heard distressing screams emanating from the couple’s flat. Alarmed, they swiftly intervened, forcibly entering the premises. Despite their valiant attempts to extinguish the flames, Soumini had already succumbed to the fire. Abhil, on the other hand, was rushed to Victoria Hospital, where he tragically succumbed to his severe injuries.
