Tragic Fatal Crash Under Investigation by Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Department in Fairlea, West Virginia

FAIRLEA, W.Va. — A devastating incident unfolded in the early hours of Monday morning as the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Department launched an investigation into a fatal crash that claimed the life of a pedestrian.

Sheriff Bruce Sloan disclosed that members of the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office were urgently dispatched to the scene of a traffic accident in Fairlea at approximately 4:40 am. The responding officers were met with the grim sight of a pedestrian who had been struck by a northbound vehicle while pushing a bicycle along US Route 219 North.

The victim has been identified as Matthew Ray Falls, a 47-year-old resident of the Fort Spring area. Tragically, Falls succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the incident.

Recognizing the gravity of the situation, the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene/Accident Reconstruction Team promptly arrived at the location to assist in the investigation. Authorities are diligently working to determine the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash, which remains under thorough examination.
