BOSTON – Shocking new information has come to light regarding the tragic death of Margaret Mbitu, whose lifeless body was discovered inside a vehicle at Logan International Airport in Boston on November 1. Massachusetts State Police trooper, Timothy Burns, has provided crucial details that shed light on the events leading up to the discovery of Mbitu’s body, while the prime suspect, Kevin Kangethe, managed to flee the country to Kenya.

The victim, identified as 31-year-old Margaret Mbitu from Whitman, was found deceased inside a vehicle parked in the central parking garage at Logan Airport at approximately 6:30 p.m. on November 1, according to the Massachusetts State Police. Trooper Timothy Burns, who arrived at the scene, was informed that Mbitu had been reported missing since the previous day.

Investigation records reveal that during the course of the investigation, authorities identified Kevin Kangethe, a 40-year-old resident of Lowell, as Mbitu’s boyfriend. Kangethe was reportedly driving a white 2013 Toyota Venza with Massachusetts license plates. Surveillance footage from various locations, including Lowell and Chelsea, captured Kangethe on October 30.

The investigation took a chilling turn when it was discovered that Mbitu’s phone location correlated with the vehicle’s location until it was found inside the parking garage. Upon inspecting the car, investigators were confronted with a distressing scene. Mbitu was found unresponsive, with an alarming amount of blood inside the vehicle. Her lifeless body displayed evident signs of violence, including large slash wounds to her face and neck area, as well as a puncture wound to her side.

Authorities alerted Boston EMS, who arrived promptly but unfortunately pronounced Mbitu dead at 7:23 p.m. The vehicle was secured pending a search warrant, and further examination of the victim’s body confirmed the heinous nature of the crime.

Meanwhile, the suspect, Kevin Kangethe, made hasty arrangements to leave the country. On October 31, he purchased airline tickets bound for Kenya. Seconds after his car was captured on video surveillance entering the parking garage, Kangethe was seen leaving the area. He then proceeded to the airport terminal, where he checked into a flight.

Massachusetts State Police have obtained a warrant charging Kangethe with Mbitu’s murder. They are now collaborating with Kenyan authorities in an effort to locate and apprehend the suspect. Kangethe currently faces a murder charge, as stated in the court documents.
