The cause of Adaeze’s death remains unknown at this time as authorities continue their investigation. The incident has sent shockwaves through the university community, coming only two weeks after the grim discovery of the decomposing body of another student, Justina Otuene, in the residence of her ex-lover, Damian Okoligwe, in Ozuoba.

Damian Okoligwe, a 400-level student of Petrochemical Engineering at UNIPORT, was apprehended by the police in connection with Justina’s murder.

Speaking about the recent tragedy, Prof. Chima Wokocha, the Dean of Student Affairs at UNIPORT, confirmed that Adaeze’s lifeless body was brought to the Chief Lulu-Briggs Health Centre by concerned neighbours. He clarified that Adaeze did not die in the university hostel but in her off-campus residence in Aluu. The university management, accompanied by the police, visited the scene of the incident, and the parents of the deceased have been notified.

Prof. Wokocha revealed, “We acknowledge that she had consumed a substance and passed out, as there was a bottle of a substance found beside her.”
