The accused, who had initially claimed to be away in Phagwara to visit a sick relative, was revealed to be the mastermind behind the heinous crime. According to the police investigation, the husband, identified as Dadwal Kumar, employed at Vardhman Mills, slit his wife’s throat while she was asleep. In his statement, he alleged that his wife had been mistreating his 14-year-old son from his previous marriage, which ultimately led to his drastic actions.

The accused had meticulously planned the murder, first leaving for Phagwara on Sunday under the pretext of visiting his ailing nephew. However, he returned to Ludhiana during the night and carried out the gruesome act. After committing the crime, he once again fled to Phagwara.

The shocking discovery of his wife’s lifeless body was made by their 14-year-old stepson, who immediately raised the alarm and informed the neighbors. The distraught boy then contacted his father, who was still in Phagwara at the time, and informed him of the tragic incident. Upon receiving the devastating news, the husband rushed back to Ludhiana.

Ludhiana Police Commissioner Mandeep Singh Sidhu addressed the media during a press conference, shedding light on the details of the case. He revealed that the police received information about the murder of 26-year-old Pooja at around 6:30 am on Monday. The stepson was the first to stumble upon the lifeless body and promptly alerted the neighbors. He then called his father, who was in Phagwara at the time.

Authorities disclosed that Dadwal had married Pooja in 2017 after the demise of his first wife due to an illness. The accused has a 14-year-old son and a 7-year-old daughter from his previous marriage. While his daughter resides with her grandmother in Bihar, his son was living with him. Dadwal and Pooja also had twin sons, aged 5, who were present in the room when the murder occurred.

During interrogation, Dadwal confessed that his wife had been subjecting his son to physical and emotional abuse, forcing him to carry out household chores and subjecting him to regular beatings over trivial matters. Frustrated by his son’s complaints, the accused decided to take matters into his own hands, leading to the tragic outcome.

In a bid to create an alibi, the accused claimed to have made a video call to his mother-in-law while he was in Phagwara, providing false evidence to support his fabricated story. However, upon further investigation, the police uncovered his devious plan. Dadwal had traveled to Phagwara by bus and returned to Ludhiana during the night. Under the cover of darkness, he used a cutter to slit his wife’s throat while she slept soundly. He then fled back to Phagwara on a bus.

A First Information Report (FIR) for murder has been registered at Jamalpur police station, and the accused has been swiftly apprehended by the authorities. The Ludhiana police are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the case to gather more evidence for the trial.
