Female University of Port Harcourt student found dead in her apartment

Accident – death – Obituary News : Another tragic incident has occurred at the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) as another female student has been found dead in her apartment in Aluu, a community in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, South-south Nigeria. The victim, identified as Adaeze, was a 200-level undergraduate student of accounting at the institution. Her lifeless body was discovered on Friday in her off-campus residence near the university.

The cause of Adaeze’s death remains unknown at the time of this report. This unfortunate event comes just two weeks after the shocking murder and dismemberment of 20-year-old Justina Otuene by her 24-year-old boyfriend, Damian Okoligwe, in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state. Both Okoligwe and Otuene were students at UNIPORT.

According to Chima Wokocha, the dean of student affairs at UNIPORT, Adaeze’s body was found by her neighbors in her off-campus residence. They immediately brought her to a health facility in the university, where the management and the police were notified. The parents of the deceased have also been informed of the tragic incident.

Wokocha revealed that Adaeze did not die in the university hostel but in her off-campus residence in Aluu. He mentioned that a substance was found beside her lifeless body, suggesting she may have consumed it before passing away. The police spokesperson in Rivers State, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation has been initiated to determine the circumstances surrounding her death.

This recent incident has further raised concerns about the safety and security of students at UNIPORT. It is imperative for the university and the relevant authorities to prioritize student safety and take necessary measures to prevent such tragedies from occurring in the future.
