Body Found in Brownsville Identified as Dana Davis

Accident – death – Obituary News : BROWNSVILLE, Tenn. (WMC) – The body of a woman discovered by farmers in Brownsville almost a week ago has been identified as Dana Davis, a 52-year-old resident, according to Haywood County Sheriff Billy Garrett. The Memphis Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed her identity.

The circumstances surrounding Davis’ death, including the manner and cause, remain unknown at this time, as the investigation is still ongoing, Sheriff Garrett stated. It was on Tuesday, October 31, when farmers harvesting soybean fields near Cobb Crossing and Highway 79 stumbled upon Davis’ body. The sheriff’s office immediately notified the coroner’s office, which promptly determined the gender of the deceased as female. In order to establish a positive identification and determine the cause of death, Davis’ remains were subsequently sent to the Memphis Medical Examiner’s Office.

Interestingly, Davis had been reported missing by the sheriff’s office almost three weeks prior to the discovery of her body. The last time she was seen was when she left her home on Cobb Crossing. According to Sheriff Garrett, it is believed that she left the area on foot, and there are suspicions that she may have been picked up by someone or possibly lost her way. Mental health issues were also a concern during this period, further complicating the investigation.

Sheriff Garrett has informed Davis’ family about the recent developments in the case. While the community mourns the loss of a resident, they are anxiously awaiting further information from the ongoing investigation to shed light on the mysterious circumstances surrounding Davis’ death.
