16-Year-Old Arrested in Rochester Shooting and Fight Incident

Accident – Death – Obituary News : Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- Rochester Police responded to a shooting incident that occurred in the southeastern quadrant of the city on Monday evening. According to a news release, officers were dispatched to the scene following reports of a large fight and gunshots at around 7:20 p.m. Witnesses also mentioned that approximately 20-30 teenagers were involved in the altercation.

The incident took place in the 2300 block of Park Ln Southeast. The Rochester Police spokesperson stated that during the fight, a male individual fired a handgun above the crowd before fleeing the scene in a red sedan. Prompt action was taken by the police, who later located a vehicle matching the description of the suspect’s car in front of a residence in the 1700 block of 9th Ave. Southeast.

A 16-year-old boy from Rochester was identified as the suspected shooter and subsequently arrested on several charges. The charges include felony 2nd degree riot armed with a dangerous weapon, felony reckless discharge of a firearm, felony possession of a weapon by a person under 18, gross misdemeanor 3rd degree riot, misdemeanor 5th degree assault, and misdemeanor disorderly conduct brawling.

To ensure the safety of the community, the teenager was transported to the Anoka County Juvenile Detention Center. In addition to the arrest of the suspected shooter, the police also apprehended 18-year-old Timberland Von of Rochester. Von faces charges of felony 2nd degree riot armed with a dangerous weapon and misdemeanor disorderly conduct brawling. He was booked into the Olmsted County Jail shortly before 11 p.m.

During a search warrant executed at the 9th Ave. Southeast residence, officers discovered four handguns. Of the four firearms, three were identified as ghost guns, which lack serial numbers. The recovery of these weapons is an important step in preventing further harm and maintaining public safety.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the shooting incident. However, the Rochester Police are actively investigating the incident to gather more information and ensure that all parties involved are held accountable for their actions.
