Champai: In a remarkable display of the essence of democratic spirit, a 101-year-old voter cast his vote in the 24-Champhai South Assembly Constituency in Mizoram today. The initiative taken by the centenarian to vote with his 86-year-old wife was widely lauded by the Netizens.

The centenarian, identified as Pu Rualhnudala, arrived at the polling station along with his 86-year-old wife, Pi Thanghleithluaii. Their commitment to exercise their democratic right together has become an inspiration, setting an admirable example of unity and determination during this crucial season of assembly elections.

Another heartwarming incident occurred when a 96-year-old visually challenged voter decided to cast his vote physically in the 1417 Saron Veng-II constituency in Aizawl. Despite being eligible for postal voting, the elderly gentleman chose to make his way to the polling booth and cast his ballot in person, proving that age and physical limitations should not hinder one’s participation in the electoral process.

Unfortunately, Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga faced an unforeseen obstacle in his attempt to cast his ballot today. Due to a breakdown of the voting machine, he was unable to exercise his right to vote in the Mizoram assembly elections. This incident highlights the importance of ensuring smooth and efficient voting procedures to guarantee equal participation for all eligible voters.

The voting process commenced in the state of Mizoram today, with citizens turning out to fulfill their civic duty. Prominent figures such as Mizoram Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati, state Congress chairman Lalsawta, and working president of the Zoram People’s Movement K Sapdanga were among those seen casting their votes, setting an example for the public and emphasizing the significance of active participation in the democratic process.
