Two People Killed in Los Angeles Crash After Police Chase

Two individuals tragically lost their lives on Sunday morning in Los Angeles when a green minivan, involved in a short police chase, collided with a Metropolitan Transportation Authority bus.

The incident unfolded at approximately 5:11 a.m. when officers from the Los Angeles Police Department observed an occupant of the minivan discard a firearm near Central Avenue and the 10 freeway. Upon noticing this, the minivan, which was carrying four passengers, attempted to flee the scene, prompting the police to pursue it.

Sergeant Hector Guzman of the LAPD stated that the pursuit lasted only one to two minutes, making it a relatively brief chase. The pursuit eventually came to an end at the intersection of 17th and Main streets, where the minivan collided with the MTA bus.

While awaiting the arrival of paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department, officers at the scene endeavored to assist the injured individuals inside the minivan. Tragically, due to the severity of the crash, two occupants of the minivan lost their lives. One individual was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.

As of Monday afternoon, the identities of the deceased have not been disclosed.

Law enforcement authorities successfully recovered the discarded firearm that had initially triggered the pursuit.

The driver of the minivan remains uncharged

The driver of the minivan, along with another passenger, sustained injuries and were promptly transported to a local hospital. However, their injuries are not considered life-threatening, according to Sergeant Guzman.

At present, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority has not responded to requests for comment regarding the incident.

Sergeant Guzman confirmed that once the driver of the minivan concludes their treatment at the hospital, they will face charges and subsequently be booked into jail. However, the specific charges the driver will face have not been disclosed.

In a different incident: A devastating bus collision in Seattle’s Belltown neighborhood claimed the life of one individual and left twelve others injured.

In an effort to provide a comprehensive account of the incident, the Los Angeles Police Department and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority are continuing their investigations into the crash.
