Man Dies Following Shooting Incident in St. James Area of Winnipeg

A tragic shooting incident in Winnipeg’s St. James area has claimed the life of one man who was rushed to the hospital in critical condition on Sunday. Lawrence Evan Pruden, 27, has been identified as the victim who unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. The other man involved in the incident has been upgraded to stable condition, according to authorities.

In a news release issued on Monday, the police confirmed that they have not yet made any arrests in connection with the shooting. The incident occurred around 1 a.m. on Saturday when emergency crews responded to reports of gunshots in the vicinity of Portage Avenue, between Inglewood and Hampton streets.

The scene of the crime was marked by evidence markers placed on Parkview Street, adjacent to a grey car. Disturbingly, spatters of what appeared to be blood were observed both inside and outside the vehicle, indicating the severity of the incident.

Tragically, Pruden’s death marks the eighth shooting-related homicide in Winnipeg this year, highlighting the alarming trend of gun violence in the city. The local homicide unit is currently leading the investigation and authorities are urging anyone with video surveillance footage or information that could assist in the case to come forward.
