The victims, identified as Muhammad Musa and his wife Sidra, residents of Aligarh Colony, were on their way to a hospital to seek medical attention for their seven-month-old son, Ramzan Musa. Tragically, a recklessly driven water tanker, coming from behind, ran over their motorcycle at Qasbah Mor in Shahzad Chowk.

Eyewitnesses recounted that the water tanker, after crushing the family, careened into an electricity pole. Shockingly, the driver fled the scene, abandoning the tanker. As passersby gathered at the scene, they discovered that 24-year-old Sidra and her son Ramzan had already succumbed to their injuries. Muhammad Musa was rushed to a nearby hospital in a critical condition.

Following the necessary medico-legal procedures, the police handed over the bodies to the grieving family. Doctors at the Civil Hospital, where Musa was admitted, have reported that his condition remains critical. Musa, a watchman at a local factory, and his wife Sidra had only one child.

The police have launched a manhunt to locate the driver and owner of the water tanker responsible for the tragic accident. Meanwhile, the victims’ family and neighbors have raised concerns about the absence of speed breakers at the crash site, which often encourages tanker drivers to speed. They argue that this lack of infrastructure leads to three to four accidents occurring each week. Despite previously reporting their concerns to the relevant authorities, their pleas have fallen on deaf ears.

Danish, who owned a clothing stall at Nagan Chowrangi, was the third of six siblings. Among the injured, three were women. The bus driver initially fled the scene but was later apprehended by the police.

The local community is left in shock and mourning as these tragic accidents continue to claim innocent lives. The authorities must take immediate action to address the absence of safety measures, such as speed breakers, at accident-prone locations. Only through proactive measures can such devastating incidents be prevented in the future.
