LAKE MOULTRIE — In a tragic turn of events, the body of a 54-year-old man from Goose Creek, Jason Mclemore, was discovered floating in Lake Moultrie. The shocking incident occurred on November 5, near the Diversion Canal in Cross, according to a statement released by Berkeley County Coroner Darnell Hartwell.

The discovery was made by a group of fishermen who stumbled upon Mclemore’s lifeless body. Alongside the body, an unmanned kayak was found, adding to the mystery surrounding his death. In order to determine the cause of death, an autopsy has been scheduled.

The local authorities, including the Berkeley County Sherriff’s Office Marine Units, Central Berkeley Fire and Rescue, and Berkeley County EMS, swiftly responded to the distressing incident. The Post and Courier had previously reported on the deaths of two longtime friends, Jerry Stoots, 75, from Goose Creek, and Lee Watkins, 68, from North Charleston. The two friends were found deceased in Lake Moultrie earlier this year, in January.
