Andhra Pradesh: Six individuals were apprehended in Andhra Pradesh’s NTR district for their alleged involvement in a shocking incident where a Dalit youth was assaulted and urinated upon. The victim, identified as Shyam Kumar, endured a horrifying ordeal.

According to officials, the Dalit youth was forcefully detained by the perpetrators for a harrowing period of four hours. During this time, he was subjected to severe physical assault. In a shocking display of cruelty, the accused individuals reportedly urinated on him when he pleaded for water, as per the ANI report.

News of the incident quickly spread, leading to widespread outrage and protests. The Telugu Desam Party’s (TDP) Scheduled Caste (SC) cell organized a protest and blocked roads in response to the heinous act. The protest, led by TDP SC cell president MMS Raju, caused a major disruption on the highway near Kanchikacharla. Protesters demanded justice for the victim and chanted the slogan ‘We Want Justice.’

The protest scenes were captured on camera, showing police officers attempting to disperse the crowd by carrying one of the prominent protesters by his hands and feet. Despite the intervention, the protesters remained steadfast in their demand for justice.

MMS Raju, the president of TDP SC cell, addressed the media and expressed his concerns about the increasing attacks on Dalits under Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s regime. He condemned the assault on Shyam Kumar and criticized the alleged leniency shown towards the perpetrators, who were granted station bail and allowed to roam freely, even after brutally attacking the Dalit youth.

Highlighting the severity of the assault, MMS Raju stated that doctors have recommended an operation for Shyam’s injured jaw, which would require three days of hospitalization.

Stressing the need for justice, he called for the immediate apprehension and prosecution of all individuals involved in this heinous incident.

Vijayawada City Police Commissioner Kanthi Rana Tata also provided details about the incident. According to Tata, Shyam Kumar, a resident of Kanchikacherla village, was assaulted by his former friend Harish Reddy, who conspired with five others to carry out the attack.

“Harish Reddy lured Shyam Kumar to the Shivsai Kshetra area and forcibly pushed him into a car with the assistance of the other five individuals. They then drove him to Guntur, where he was subjected to a brutal assault inside the car,” explained Kanthi Rana Tata.

The police have assured that the accused individuals will be presented before a fast-track court and remanded to ensure swift justice in this distressing case.
