77-Year-Old Maxine Carstedt Dies in Alcohol-Related Car Crash in North Phoenix

Accident – death – Obituary News : A tragic car crash in north Phoenix claimed the life of a woman, according to the Phoenix Police Department. The incident occurred around 10 p.m. on Saturday and alcohol was determined to be a contributing factor, police said.

The collision took place at the intersection of Beardsley Road and 7th Avenue. Authorities responded to reports of a crash and serious injuries at the scene. Upon arrival, they discovered two individuals involved in the accident. The man, identified as 36-year-old Dustin Peck, sustained minor injuries, while the woman, identified as 77-year-old Maxine Carstedt, suffered severe injuries.

Sadly, Carstedt succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives took over the investigation and initial findings suggest that Peck was driving east on Beardsley Road, approaching 7th Avenue, when he ran a red light. Peck collided with a median and the vehicle driven by Carstedt, which was facing north and had come to a stop for the red light.

The police investigation revealed that alcohol played a significant role in the crash. Consequently, Peck was arrested and ultimately charged with manslaughter and driving under the influence. This devastating incident serves as a reminder of the dangers of driving under the influence and the importance of responsible behavior on the road.
