Accident – Death – Obituary News : SSB Jawan from Assam Allegedly Commits Suicide at Border Outpost in West Champaran District
A tragic incident unfolded on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday when a 29-year-old Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) jawan, Rajkumar Chaudhary, hailing from Assam, allegedly shot himself dead while on duty at a border outpost in West Champaran district along the Indo-Nepal border.

The incident occurred at Senwaria border outpost, where Chaudhary was deployed as part of the 47th battalion of the SSB. He was on guard duty when his colleagues heard the sound of firing and rushed to the scene. To their dismay, they found Chaudhary lying in a pool of blood. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, but sadly, he was declared brought dead.
According to the second-in-command of the 47th battalion, Anendra Mani, Chaudhary had used his service weapon, an automatic rifle, to shoot himself in the head. The local police have initiated an investigation into the matter, and a post-mortem examination has been conducted. Chaudhary’s body has been embalmed and sent to his native place in Assam via an aircraft.
While the circumstances surrounding Chaudhary’s suicide remain unclear, an inquiry is underway to ascertain the possible reasons behind his extreme step. The SSB, along with the local authorities, is determined to uncover the truth behind this tragic incident.
In other news, the Odisha government has taken a significant step towards ensuring the safety of transgenders on college and university campuses. Following the orders of the National Human Rights Commission, the higher education department has directed educational institutes to establish monitoring committee cells to address issues such as prejudices, discrimination, sexual abuse, and violence against transgender individuals. Additionally, the directive states that gender-neutral facilities, such as unisex toilets and restrooms, should be constructed in all educational institutions.
