It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Police Service Dog “Hitch” on November 4, 2023. Hitch had been a loyal and invaluable member of the Saanich Police Department since 2016, serving alongside his partner and best friend, Constable Ken Mead.
Hitch’s career as a police dog was marked by bravery, dedication, and numerous accomplishments. He was a vital asset to the Saanich Police Department’s K9 unit, responding to countless calls and assisting in the apprehension of numerous suspects.
