Death – Obituary News : Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin announced that the Agricultural College & Research Institute in Thanjavur district will be named after the late agricultural scientist MS Swaminathan.

Renowned agricultural scientist Dr. M.S. Swaminathan, who passed away recently, will be honored with the naming of the Agricultural College & Research Institute in Eachangkottai, Thanjavur district after him. The announcement was made by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin in the State Assembly on Wednesday.

Dr. M.S. Swaminathan was born on August 7, 1925, in Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu. He was the son of Dr. M.K. Sambasivan and Parvati Thangammal. Dr. Swaminathan completed his education at Loyola College in Chennai and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree with honors in Zoology. He went on to pursue a Ph.D. in Genetics and Plant Breeding from the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom.

Throughout his illustrious career, Dr. Swaminathan made significant contributions to agricultural science and played a crucial role in India’s Green Revolution.
