We are deeply saddened to report the passing of Byron Shewman, the founder of Starlings Volleyball Club, who left us on October 5th, 2023. Byron’s departure has left a void in the volleyball community, where he had an immeasurable impact throughout his life.

Born and raised in the United Kingdom, Byron Shewman dedicated his life to the sport he loved. From a young age, he showed exceptional talent and passion for volleyball. As he grew older, he realized the lack of opportunities for young athletes in his community and decided to take matters into his own hands. In 1996, he founded Starlings Volleyball Club, aiming to provide underprivileged children with the chance to participate in volleyball and reap its countless benefits.
