Born on April 29, 1944, in Westhoughton, Lancashire, Francis Lee began his football career at Bolton Wanderers, where he quickly showcased his exceptional talent. It was during his time at Bolton that his striking ability caught the attention of Manchester City, who signed him in 1967 for a then-record transfer fee of £60,000.
Lee’s time at Manchester City was nothing short of extraordinary. He played an integral role in the club’s success, helping them secure multiple trophies, including the First Division title in 1968, the FA Cup in 1969, and the European Cup Winners’ Cup in 1970. Known for his exceptional goal-scoring ability and clinical finishing, Lee became a fan favorite and a true legend at the club.
