Valarmathi was born on June 12, 1967, in Chennai, India. From a young age, she displayed a deep interest in mathematics and physics, which eventually led her to pursue a career in the field of space science. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, and later completed her master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore.

Valarmathi joined ISRO in 1993 and quickly made a name for herself with her exceptional knowledge and dedication. She became known as the voice behind many iconic launch countdowns, including the highly anticipated Chandrayaan 3 mission. Her calm and composed voice during these pivotal moments captured the nation’s imagination and instilled a sense of pride and confidence in the Indian space program.
