The Coast Guard alerted the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office about the body, which was found by a dredging company. The East Baton Rouge Coroner’s Office confirmed the identity of the body and stated that no foul play was involved. The East Baton Rouge Coroner’s Office in Louisiana officially identified the body as that of the missing Florida man, aged 44. The Coast Guard alerted the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office after a body was found in the river late on Monday evening. Initially, a dredging company operating in the area made the discovery and promptly reported it. The Maritime unit retrieved the body from the river and handed it over to the coroner’s office for further investigation into the cause of death. No evidence of foul play was reported. The Baton Rouge Police Department confirmed the identity of the deceased as Jody Bert, who had been reported missing on March 23. On the previous day, he had been last seen in downtown Baton Rouge, where he dropped off his wife and children at a hotel in the early hours of the morning. The family had temporarily stayed in Baton Rouge due to a medical issue, as they were returning to Florida after visiting relatives in Oklahoma. Bert went to find a parking space for their vehicle but never returned to his family. The police discovered the vehicle, wallet, and cell phone in the hotel’s parking garage the following day..
