A fatal collision in southern Minnesota resulted in the death of one driver and the arrest of another. The crash occurred on Hwy. 68 near the intersection of 15th St. South in New Ulm. The driver of the SUV, Sharon Ann Portner, was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other driver, John Roy Deleo, sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Deleo was later released from the hospital and booked into jail on charges of criminal vehicular homicide and DWI. News Talk 1340 KROC-AM reported

In the southern region of Minnesota on Thursday afternoon, a fatal collision occurred between two vehicles traveling in opposite directions, resulting in the death of one driver and the arrest of another. The State Patrol promptly responded to the crash, which occurred near the intersection of 15th St. South and Hwy. 68 in New Ulm, at approximately 2 p.m. According to the state crash report, a car heading northbound collided with a southbound SUV. Unfortunately, the driver of the SUV, identified as 82-year-old Sharon Ann Portner from New Ulm, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The car was being driven by 53-year-old John Roy Deleo from Lake Crystal, MN, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a New Ulm hospital for treatment. After being released from the hospital, Deleo was apprehended and taken into custody on suspicion of criminal vehicular homicide and DWI. The state crash report revealed that Deleo had alcohol in his system at the time of the fatal crash. As of Friday morning, an arraignment date in Brown County Court for Deleo has not yet been scheduled..
