As per records from the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office, Aites has been incarcerated in East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on multiple charges, which include vehicular homicide, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, reckless operation of a vehicle, failure to secure a child passenger restraint system, failure to meet the required security level, two counts of vehicular negligent injuring, violation of the general speed law, and failure to secure registration as the vehicle owner.

The incident took place on June 11, 2023, around 7:30 p.m. in the 6800 block of Plank Road, involving a 2007 Pontiac G6, a 1991 Chevy 1500, and a 2022 Toyota Camry, according to an arrest report. Baton Rouge Police Department’s investigation revealed that Aites, driving the Pontiac, was traveling north on Plank Road at an excessive speed when the vehicle struck a curb.

After hitting the curb, the driver attempted to correct the course but ended up airborne, landing on the hood of the Chevy truck, which subsequently collided with the Toyota. The Pontiac rolled onto its roof before coming to a stop, authorities stated.

The front passenger in the Pontiac, identified as Angelina Forrest, 27, tragically lost her life at the scene due to not wearing a seatbelt. Aites’ daughter, who was seated in the back, sustained moderate facial injuries as she was not properly restrained in her booster seat. She was transported to Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital for treatment. The driver of the Chevy truck also suffered moderate injuries and was taken to the same hospital.

Despite wearing a seatbelt, Aites sustained severe injuries and was also transported to the hospital. Due to the extent of her injuries, law enforcement officials were unable to conduct a blood draw at the scene. Consequently, a warrant was obtained for her medical records.

Upon receipt of Aites’ medical records, it was discovered that her blood alcohol level measured .246% BAC, which is more than triple the legal limit. Additionally, arrest documents revealed the presence of THC and cocaine in Aites’ urine.

A speed calculation conducted by the police determined that the Pontiac was traveling at approximately 76 mph at the moment Aites lost control of the vehicle. The speed limit in the relevant section of Plank Road is 45 mph, as confirmed by BRPD.

Detectives also ascertained that Aites did not possess valid insurance or registration for the Pontiac at the time of the incident.
