“Florida Man Jody Bert Identified as Body Found in Mississippi River”

The body of a Florida man who went missing in March 2023 has been found in the Mississippi River. The body, identified as Jody Bert, was discovered near BREC’s Farr Park after the Coast Guard alerted officials. There are no signs of foul play. Bert disappeared after dropping off his family at a Baton Rouge hotel and never returned. The investigation is ongoing. WAFB Staff reported

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – The individual discovered in the Mississippi River on Monday, August 14th, has now been identified as Jody Bert, a 44-year-old man from Florida who had been reported missing since March 2023. Authorities from the East Baton Rouge Corner’s Office confirmed the identification. The body was located after the Coast Guard alerted officials to River Road, in close proximity to BREC’s Farr Park, at approximately 11:25 p.m. The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office has stated that there are no apparent indications of foul play.

In March, Bert vanished after his family made a stop in Baton Rouge due to his ill health. As per the investigation conducted by detectives, Bert dropped off his wife and children at a downtown Baton Rouge hotel before leaving to park his car. However, he never returned to the hotel. Notably, his wallet was found in his vehicle.
