Corey Johnson, a resident of Brick Township, died from self-inflicted injuries after allegedly firing a weapon at a Brick Township Police Officer. The incident occurred after Johnson broke into his ex-wife’s residence and blocked her in with his vehicle. Johnson fired a shot at the officer before turning the gun on himself. Corey Johnson, a resident of Brick Township, succumbed to his self-inflicted injuries on Wednesday, August 16th, after allegedly firing a weapon at a Brick Township Police Officer on Monday, August 14th. According to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer, Johnson had broken into his ex-wife’s residence on Judy Court, prompting her to contact the police. Upon receiving the notification from her Ring doorbell camera, the woman left her place of employment and called 911 while on her way to her home. Johnson, who had already left the residence, blocked her in by parking his vehicle in front of hers. When a Brick Township Police Officer arrived at the scene, Johnson fired a shot at the officer, hitting the windshield of the officer’s vehicle. Fortunately, the officer was unharmed. Immediately after firing at the officer, Johnson turned the gun on himself and shot himself in the head. Responding officers provided medical assistance to Johnson before he was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center..
